PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated 11 September 2026
At LOHR ASTOR we make things by hand, and we take the same care with the information you give us.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices that belong to you. We have written it plainly, because a privacy policy you cannot read is not much of a promise.
WHO WE ARE
LOHR ASTOR is operated by Lohralee Astor Interiors Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 09318716, at 5th Floor One New Change, London EC4M 9AF.
We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at any time at contact@lohrastor.com.
We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Where we sell to customers in the European Union, we also follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
Our representative in the European Union, appointed under Article 27 of the EU GDPR, is NAME, ADDRESS, EMAIL.
WHAT WE COLLECT
What you tell us. Your name, delivery and billing address, email address, telephone number, order history, product preferences, anything you write to us and how you would like to hear from us. We collect this when you order, open an account, write to us, arrange a return, join our journal or speak to us at an event.
How you use our website. Your IP address, browser and device, approximate location, the pages and pieces you looked at, what you searched for, what you placed in your basket and what you bought.
What others tell us. We receive information from Shopify, our payment providers, our delivery partners, our fraud prevention providers and, where you interact with us there, from Instagram and Facebook.
We ask for very little, and only what we need. If you choose not to give us the information marked as required at checkout, we will not be able to complete your order.
We do not receive or keep your full payment card details. Those go directly to our payment providers.
WHY WE USE IT
To look after your order. To take payment, arrange delivery, handle returns and refunds, answer your questions and keep you informed. We need this to fulfil our contract with you.
To meet our obligations. Accounting, tax, fraud prevention and the records the law requires us to keep.
To run the house well. To understand how our website is used, to improve our products and service, to keep our systems secure and to protect our legal position. These are our legitimate interests, and we weigh them against your rights each time.
Where you have said yes. For marketing, for advertising cookies and for anything else the law asks us to seek your consent for. You may withdraw that consent whenever you wish.
OUR WEBSITE AND SHOPIFY
Our store is hosted by Shopify. When you visit our store or make a purchase, Shopify processes your information on our behalf so that our website, checkout and customer accounts work.
Shopify also processes some information for its own purposes, including when you use Shop, Shop Pay or other Shopify consumer services. That processing is governed by the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.
Shopify Network Intelligence. Where this is enabled for our store, Shopify uses information about interactions and transactions on our store, together with information from its wider network of merchants and services, to provide enhanced services such as fraud protection, personalisation, analytics and more relevant advertising.
This means your information is shared with Shopify and with third parties who may be located outside the United Kingdom. No other merchant is given access to our customer data.
You can withdraw consent or object to Shopify’s use of your information for these services through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
AI ASSISTED SERVICE
We use AI assisted tools to help us answer you quickly and well.
If you use the chat on our website, you will be told clearly when you are speaking to an automated assistant rather than a member of our team. The assistant draws on our product information, our policies and our published content to answer you, and it will pass you to a person whenever the question deserves one.
Your messages may be read by automated systems to understand what you are asking, to suggest a reply or to recommend a piece you might like. Members of our team can see these conversations where that is needed for service, quality and security.
No AI tool of ours makes a decision about you on its own that has a legal or similarly significant effect.
Please do not share sensitive personal information through chat. If you need to tell us something private, write to us instead.
INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK AND META
We are present on Instagram and Facebook, and our collection can be browsed there through our shop.
If you buy a piece you have found on Instagram or Facebook, you will be brought to our own website to complete the purchase, and your order is handled by us in the ordinary way. If a platform checkout is used in future in your country, that platform will receive the information needed to complete the transaction, including your name, contact details, delivery address and order.
When you follow us, message us, comment or engage with our advertising, Meta processes information about you under the Meta Privacy Policy. Meta acts as a controller in its own right for much of this, and for some advertising measurement Meta and LOHR ASTOR act as joint controllers.
We may in future use Meta advertising tools such as the Meta Pixel or the Conversions API to understand how our advertising performs. If we do, information about your visit, the pieces you viewed, your basket and your purchase may be shared with Meta, and may include identifiers such as your email address or telephone number. We will not switch these tools on for you until you have given consent through our cookie banner.
COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
Essential. Some cookies are needed for the website to work. They keep your basket, carry you through checkout, keep the site secure and remember your settings. These do not require consent.
Measurement and preferences. We use cookies to count visits, understand how our website is used and remember display preferences such as language or currency. This information is used only by us and is not shared for advertising. UK law no longer requires consent for this, but you may switch it off at any time, free of charge, through our cookie preferences.
Advertising. Cookies and pixels that share information with others to show or measure advertising are only used with your consent.
You can accept, refuse or change your choices at any time through the cookie preferences link at the foot of every page. A full list of the cookies we use sits alongside it. You can also manage cookies in your browser, though some of the site may not work as it should.
THE LOHR ASTOR JOURNAL
If you subscribe to our journal we will write to you about new collections, private previews, events and the stories behind the pieces. We ask for your consent first, unless you have bought from us, in which case we may write to you about our own similar pieces under the rules that allow it.
Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and one click is enough. You may also simply write to us.
Leaving the journal does not stop the messages we must send about an order, a delivery or a return.
If you unsubscribe we keep a minimal record of that, so that your wish is honoured.
PAYMENTS AND FRAUD
Payments are taken by Shopify Payments and our other payment providers. They process your card and billing information, your device and the details needed to authorise the payment, prevent fraud and meet their own legal obligations, under their own privacy policies.
Shopify and our payment providers use automated checks to identify orders that may be fraudulent. An order can be declined or held as a result. If that happens to you and you believe it is wrong, write to us and a person will look at it.
EVENTS, TRUNK SHOWS AND PRIVATE PREVIEWS
When you attend one of our events, register interest in a trunk show or ask us to hold a piece, we keep your name, contact details and what you liked, so that we can look after you properly.
Our events are sometimes photographed or filmed for our own use. We will tell you when that is happening, and if you would rather not appear, please say so and we will make sure you do not.
WHO WE SHARE WITH
We share your information only with those who help us serve you, and only with what they need.
Shopify. Our payment providers, banks and card networks. Our delivery, logistics and fulfilment partners. Our website, cloud and email providers. Our marketing and analytics providers. Meta and other platforms, where you have consented. Fraud prevention and security providers. Our accountants, insurers and legal advisers. Regulators, courts and authorities, where the law requires it. And, if the business is ever sold or reorganised, the people involved in that, under proper protections.
Everyone who handles your information on our behalf is bound to look after it.
We do not sell your personal information. Some advertising practices are treated as a sale or as sharing under the laws of certain countries. Where those laws apply to you, we give you the rights and the opt out they require.
WHERE YOUR INFORMATION GOES
Some of our partners, including Shopify and Meta, operate internationally. Your information may therefore be stored in or accessed from outside the United Kingdom.
When that happens we make sure the transfer is lawful, using UK or EU adequacy decisions, approved contractual safeguards or another recognised mechanism. You are welcome to ask us which applies.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Orders, payments and transactions. Six years from the end of the relevant financial year, or longer where tax or accounting rules require it.
Correspondence. For as long as we reasonably need it to resolve your enquiry, look after our relationship with you and keep proper records.
Marketing. For as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record so that we do not write to you again.
When information is no longer needed we delete it, anonymise it or dispose of it securely. Information that can no longer identify you may be kept for statistics.
SECURITY
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, alteration and unauthorised access, and we rely on the security of Shopify and the other providers we have chosen with care.
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can promise is that we take it seriously and keep our safeguards under review.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, to object to certain uses including direct marketing, to receive it in a portable form, to withdraw consent where you have given it, and to ask for a person to review a qualifying automated decision.
Simply write to contact@lohrastor.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within one month, and will tell you if we need longer.
Where Shopify holds your information on our behalf, we will work with Shopify to answer you. Where Shopify holds it independently through its own consumer services, the Shopify Privacy Portal is the place to go.
There is never a charge for exercising your rights.
IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY
You have the right to complain to us directly about how we have handled your information, and we would be grateful for the chance to put it right.
Write to contact@lohrastor.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it properly and tell you what we have found.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, whether or not you have come to us first. If you are in the European Union, you may complain to your own national data protection authority.
CHILDREN
Our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and anyone under 18 should shop with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information they should not have, please tell us and we will remove it.
CHANGES
We will update this policy from time to time as our business and the law develop. The current version always sits here, with the date at the top. Where a change matters to you, we will tell you.
If LOHR ASTOR is ever acquired, merged or reorganised, your information may transfer as part of that, with the same protections.
